CMM fixtures are available with base plates in a wide range of sizes. This enables broad applications for coordinate measuring machines of different sizes and meets the fixturing requirements for workpieces of various dimensions. Common specifications for M8 threaded base plates:

Fixture Features

The base plate features an alphanumeric grid pattern, making the part number of each fixture component easy to identify. By recording the assembly and position of each fixture component, the user setup can be fully defined and documented. The identical setup can then be reproduced quickly and accurately for subsequent inspections.

CMM fixture base plates are made of solid cast aluminium. Complex manufacturing processes including CNC machining, precision grinding, anodising coating and laser marking are required to deliver high accuracy, flatness and reliability for the plates. Reasons for using cast aluminium for fixtures and base plates: Aluminium is lightweight and relatively soft. It will not easily scratch workpieces or the CMM granite table. It is non-magnetic and will not affect CMM measurement accuracy.
